For sale is my 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit finished in Ocean Blue Metallic over Parchment hides piped in Royal Blue. 1987 saw the introduction of fuel injection on the RR 6.75 V8 engine plus for the first time anti-locking brakes. By 1989 Spirits were fitted with the highly complex "Autmotatic Ride Control" or active ride which if problematic can cost half the value of the car to repair. Therefore the 1987 and 1988 Silver Spirits with their injected engines, non active ride and ABS are considered the best to own practically due to their relative simplicity. 

Compared to the carb cars the injected engines are smoother, more throttle responsive and none of the dreaded issues with hot starting. This beautiful Silver Spirit finished in arguably the best colour combination has only covered 54k miles from new, with a full, almost exclusively RR history in 2 stamped service books supported by many invoices in the history folder and a perfect MOT record.

This car was speced well and full of the most desireable options, starting with the Rolls-Royce Handling Package which gave the car stiffer springs, uprated dampers (red in colour), and a beefier front and rear anti-roll bar. Whilst doesn't compromise the infamous magic carpet ride a Rolls offers, it makes the car feel a little more nimble in the corners. In all honesty makes the car feel a lot more modern. Other options include a rare Magnolia woolcloth headlining, Royal Blue dash top and seat piping, the knee roll, underdash, radio surround and rear parcel shelf all trimmed in Parchment hides, further complimented by Mountain Blue carpets and light blue Lambswool rugs. Outside, a gold Spirit of Ecstasy and rear quarter panel RR badges finish the look. With the non-standard paint and all the options the bill in 1987 for this magnificent Spirit was £60,952, equivalent to £166,975 today. Original invoices and order forms are in the file.

The comprehensive history file shows this car has been well maintained by the 5 owners it's had, having mainly been to Rolls-Royce main dealers, certainly in its earlier life. The last owner who had the car since early 1999 used a private mechanic to maintain the car in the latter part of his ownership with various invoices to support the work done. Brakes, hydraulics, engine, a/c etc have all been well maintained. The car still bears its original supplying dealer number plates.

The car has recently had a lubrication and filters service in December 2022 so is up to date and ready to be enjoyed. Tyres are factory correct Avon with white side wall and are in great condition. In fact the history folder shows new tyres in 2018 and 2021. I would describe the condition of this car as excellent with no rust and easily one of the best colour combination and options list on a Spirit. The leather hides are in almost new condition with none of the ageing you see in similar aged cars. A clear indication this car has been garaged almost its entire life. The wood fascia trims are in as new condition.

An Alpine radio/cassette has been fitted in place of the original Blaupunkt along with a boot fitted multi-CD changer which all works. The aerial extends electrically on the rear wing.
